JAKARTA (JP): State-owned electricity company PT PLN will
invest US$94.68 million for the construction of a 74.8-megawatt
hydro-electric power plant which will harness water flowing from
Lindu Lake near Palu, Central Sulawesi.
"The construction of the power plant will start in 1999 and
the station is slated to come on stream in 2003," the head of
PLN's Palu branch, Syarifuddin Lamadjido, told Antara in Palu.
Syarifuddin said the electricity generated by the power plant
would supply a cement plant to be built near Palu. He did not
give details about the cement project.
PLN will develop 46.5 kilometers of 150-kVA-capacity
transmission lines from the power station to Palu, he added. (04)
