Home Affairs Minister (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian has reminded civil servants (ASN) within the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) and the National Border Management Agency (BNPP) to improve their performance following the rather lengthy Eid al-Fitr holiday in 2026.

This was conveyed during the halal bihalal event at the Kemendagri Central Office in Jakarta on Monday (30/3). Specifically, Tito appreciated employees who continued to provide public services during the holiday period, including regional heads who remained on standby during the festive season.

According to Tito, this aligns with the Minister of Home Affairs’ Circular Letter (SE) instructing regional heads not to travel abroad and to stay alert from one week before until one week after Eid.

“I thank my colleagues who worked even during the long holiday. And for those who took the long holiday, consider it as recharging the battery, healthier and fresher to face our long tasks ahead,” Tito said.

He also reminded ASN at Kemendagri and BNPP to continue assisting local governments (Pemda) and ministries/institutions (K/L), particularly regarding the President’s priority programmes. These include inflation control, economic growth, waste management, Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), Red and White Village/Urban Village Cooperatives, People’s Schools, the 3 Million Houses Programme, and post-disaster recovery in Sumatra.

“I also didn’t stop two weeks ago with the President in Aceh, and last week I spent almost three or four days travelling around North Sumatra in disaster-affected areas during the holiday,” Tito added.

Tito explained that in the future, many things still need to be anticipated, especially regarding global dynamics that could impact petroleum fuel (BBM) supplies. This is because such conditions will relate to the discourse on implementing Work From Anywhere (WFA), which will be officially announced by the government.

“Now, colleagues must think. Don’t think about what this organisation, Kemendagri-BNPP, will give to you. Colleagues must think about what you can give to this organisation. The place where we all earn a living and gain status,” he stated.

After delivering his address, the Home Affairs Minister, accompanied by the Chair of the Family Empowerment and Welfare Mobilisation Team (TP PKK) Tri Tito Karnavian, shook hands directly with the ASN.

“On behalf of myself, my family, and as the leadership of Kemendagri and BNPP, I once again wish you a happy holiday. Taqabbalallahu minna wa minkum, forgiveness in body and soul, and of course, I hope we will work better,” Tito said.

The event was also attended by Deputy Home Affairs Minister (Wamendagri) Ribka Haluk, Wamendagri Bima Arya Sugiarto, Wamendagri Akhmad Wiyagus, Secretary General (Sekjen) Tomsi Tohir, as well as high-ranking and mid-level officials within Kemendagri and BNPP.
