Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force (Satgas PRR) for Sumatra, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, emphasised that accelerating the construction of permanent housing, or huntap, is the primary priority for the task force after temporary housing needs have been fulfilled. “Now we are pushing for huntap. All data on huntap requirements, including for communal huntap, will be submitted to the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) for budget needs calculation, then proposed to the Minister of Finance,” Tito stated in Jakarta on Tuesday. In addition to physical housing construction, the government is strengthening support through the Housing Waiting Fund (DTH) instrument. As of 4 May 2026, DTH distribution has reached 19,228 recipients in three provinces with 100% realisation. DTH is provided to survivors who choose to rent housing or stay with relatives while awaiting huntap construction. The DTH amount is Rp600,000 for three months, or Rp1.8 million. Satgas PRR will continue to oversee the acceleration of permanent housing construction and ensure that all survivors can soon occupy safe, decent, and dignified living spaces as part of comprehensive post-disaster recovery. Satgas PRR data as of 4 May 2026 records that all 1,024 planned huntara units in North Sumatra have been completed. Meanwhile, in West Sumatra, all 830 planned huntara units have also been fully completed. On the other hand, huntara construction in Aceh Province, the area with the greatest impact, continues to show significant progress. Of the total planned 18,380 units, 16,785 units have been completed, or about 91%. Overall, huntara construction in the three provinces has reached 18,639 units out of a total plan of 20,234 units, or about 92%. Huntara construction is a cross-sectoral collaborative effort involving BNPB, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing/PKP, local governments, TNI-Polri, as well as various humanitarian organisations and communities.
