Flood waters 1.7 metres deep inundated housing in Pondok Karya, South Jakarta. The Mobile Brigade’s A Battalion Pelopor SAR team of the Metro Jaya Regional Police assisted in evacuating residents trapped by the flood. ‘We are monitoring the situation while assisting residents affected by the flooding. The water level inside the residential area was recorded at about 170 centimetres, while at the front of the housing complex it was around 120 centimetres,’ said Brimob Commander of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Henik Maryanto, in a statement on Sunday (8 March 2026). One of those rescued was an 84-year-old woman named Sulis, who was evacuated from her home to her relatives’ residence for safety. ‘The elderly woman, Mrs Sulis (84), was moved from her flooded house and taken to the home of relatives to allow her to rest in a safer place,’ he said. Flooding was also seen on Jalan Kapten Tendean with a height of about 40 centimetres. Vehicles from the PTIK direction and the opposite direction could still pass. Brimob personnel at the scene helped regulate traffic so vehicles could continue to pass safely. ‘The presence of personnel on the ground is a manifestation of Polri’s readiness to assist residents affected by floods,’ he said. He emphasised that Brimob would continue to work in coordination with relevant agencies to ensure residents’ safety. The police also urged the public to remain vigilant for potential rises in water flow given that rain is still falling in the area. According to data from BPBD DKI Jakarta up to Sunday (8 March) at 06:00 local time, 48 RT and 16 roads were flooded. The flood height reached 1.7 metres. ‘BPBD notes that there are currently 48 RT and 16 roads flooded,’ said Isnawa Adji, Head of the DKI Jakarta BPBD, in a statement on Sunday (8 March).
