Polri's Propam Inspects 10,000 Firearms Owned by South Kalimantan Police Personnel
Banjarbaru (ANTARA) - The Division of Profession and Security (Div Propam) along with the National Police Logistics Staff carried out supervision by inspecting approximately 10,000 organic firearms owned by personnel of the South Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda Kalsel) and 13 subordinate police resorts. “We examined all of them to ensure there are no violations in their usage,” said the Head of the National Police Headquarters Team, Police Commissioner Agus Halimudin, in Banjarbaru on Tuesday. He explained that the firearm inspection included administrative completeness, weapon cleanliness, and functional suitability. Officers from Propam, together with the Police Logistics Staff, inspected each weapon in detail while asking necessary questions to the personnel holding the firearms. “The results were all good, with no findings of violations,” he said. Agus explained that organic weapons are loaned and worn by members, so their use must be accountable. “Even a single missing round of ammunition requires a report on what it was used for,” he said. Additionally, every personnel must undergo periodic psychological tests to ensure their suitability to handle firearms in the line of duty. He reminded all personnel to use firearms in accordance with the prevailing regulations and rules. “Even a small mistake related to firearms can have fatal consequences because lives are at stake, so this is a great responsibility that must be upheld,” he said. During the firearm inspection, the National Police Headquarters team was accompanied by the Head of Propam at Polda Kalsel, Police Commissioner Hery Purnomo, as well as the Deputy Head of Provos at Polda Kalsel, AKBP Zaenal Arifien, along with all personnel.
