Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the Indonesian National Police, Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho, has emphasised the importance of digitalisation, professionalism, and humanistic services by Korlantas personnel to realise traffic security, safety, order, and smoothness in Indonesia.

Quoting a statement in Jakarta on Monday, regarding professionalism, Agus reminded that every leadership policy must be elaborated concretely down to the field implementers.

According to him, all personnel must be able to translate every instruction into tangible steps felt by the public.

“We are confident that when there is one leadership command, colleagues can elaborate it into more than 10 steps,” he said.

Then, regarding humanistic services, he stated that based on the directives of the National Police Chief, General of Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the “Polantas Menyapa dan Melayani” programme must continue to be strengthened across all sub-sectors, from registration and identification (regident), law enforcement, to security and safety.

In addition, Agus asked all ranks to promote Traffic Safety Day, commemorated every September.

In that event, Agus hopes that educational activities, such as safety riding, can be optimised again to increase public awareness of riding safety.

Regarding digitalisation, the two-star police general asked his ranks to continue developing digitalisation of services and system transformation within the Korlantas Polri environment.

Several programmes that are the focus of attention include the revitalisation of the Intelligent Safety Driving Centre (ISDC), the development of smart city concepts, and the strengthening of technology-based law enforcement systems.

“Digitalisation in Korlantas is quite good; each work unit already has everything. It just needs to be continuously highlighted and improved,” he said.

He also asked all ranks to continue raising the narrative of modern and digital services in every coordination or cross-institutional forum.

The Korlantas Chief appreciated traffic patrol personnel who are able to carry out duties in a humanistic manner and receive positive responses from the public.

The potentials of such outstanding personnel, he said, must continue to be monitored and managed well.

“If there are personnel with potential and who work well, that must be managed and appreciated. Because not everyone can do that,” he said.
