Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Traffic Corps (Korlantas) Polri, together with relevant stakeholders, will evaluate the implementation of the national one-way system on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road from kilometre 70 to kilometre 414 Kalikangkung Semarang, opening the possibility that this traffic arrangement will be discontinued.

“The national one-way system, which was opened on 18 March, will be evaluated by us tomorrow morning (Saturday 21/3),” said the Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho in Jakarta on Friday.

He stated that the evaluation is being conducted given that traffic movement has begun to level off after peaking during the height of the homecoming exodus on Wednesday (18/3).

According to him, if there are no signs of increasing traffic flow, such as low traffic counts on the toll road, the national one-way system will be discontinued.

“We are collaborating with stakeholders, including the Transport Minister, the Director of Jasa Marga, and we will report to the National Police Chief. The one-way homecoming flow may be lifted. The timing will be announced later,” he said.

It is known that the national one-way system was officially implemented on the Trans Java Toll Road on Wednesday (18/3), starting from kilometre 70 at the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate, West Java, to kilometre 414 at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate, Semarang, Central Java.

Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi stated that the implementation of this traffic engineering is a form of the state’s presence to ensure the best services for the community undertaking the homecoming.

He explained that the engineering had actually been carried out since Tuesday (17/3), but only in segments, namely from kilometre 70 to kilometre 263 on the Trans Java Toll Road.

However, a further one-way implementation was applied because the volume of homecoming vehicles using the Trans Java Toll Road towards Central Java had already increased.
