Polri Reform Team Meets Prabowo at Palace, Submits Work Report

The Commission for Accelerating Polri Reform visited the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday (5/5) to deliver the commission’s work report to President Prabowo Subianto. Member of the Polri Reform Team Ahmad Dofiri stated that all substantive recommendations would be revealed only after the team is received directly by the Head of State. Observations by CNNIndonesia.com showed Ahmad Dofiri arriving at the Palace first around 2:08 p.m. WIB. Around 2:32 p.m. WIB, Chairman of the Commission for Accelerating Polri Reform Jimly Asshiddiqie followed, entering the Palace complex. Shortly afterwards, Deputy Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional Services Otto Hasibuan also joined the reporting agenda. At 2:39 p.m. WIB, Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional Services Yusril Ihza Mahendra entered the palace area to participate in the same agenda. Dofiri emphasised that the report would be presented by the Chairman of the Commission along with all team members. “Yes, the report is from the Chairman earlier, Prof Jimly along with the other commission members,” said Dofiri. He confirmed that all commission members were invited to the meeting. However, Dofiri refused to disclose the contents of the report or the recommendations brought by the team, as it was an internal agreement that the substance would only be announced after the President receives the presentation. “Later, okay (the results) when reported to Mr President,” he said. Dofiri also declined to confirm reports regarding the eight main recommendations previously mentioned by other team members. According to him, all substances would be conveyed after the meeting with the President is completed. “Ah, later okay. Later regarding the substance, what the recommendations are, after we are received,” he stated. Nevertheless, Dofiri assured that the report brought by the team had been compiled in accordance with the mandate given by the president. He mentioned that the recommendation compilation process also considered various public aspirations gathered during the team’s work. “Of course. We are working according to what was mandated by the President and also the results of absorbing aspirations from the public,” he said.
