JAKARTA - Polri showcased the performance achievements of the Labour Desk during the May Day or International Labour Day 2026 momentum. Since its establishment, the desk has received 144 reports of complaints regarding labour criminal acts, with 35 cases among them already resolved. Deputy Chief of Police Komjen Dedi Prasetyo stated that the Labour Desk represents a concrete form of the state’s presence in providing protection to workers and labourers. “The directive from the President during the 2026 May Day celebration reaffirms that the state is present to protect workers and labourers. Polri, through the Labour Desk, ensures that this protection is realised through consultation services, complaints, and professional, transparent, and fair law enforcement,” Dedi said in his statement on Saturday (2/5/2026). From the total of 144 reports received, 35 cases have been resolved, with details of one case declared complete (P21) and 34 others resolved through the restorative justice mechanism or restorative justice. Meanwhile, 109 reports are still in the handling process. The cases handled cover various labour issues, such as termination of employment (PHK) and severance pay, wage disputes, suppression of worker unions, BPJS issues, and workplace safety protection. “The Polri Labour Desk provides integrated consultation, complaint, and reporting services for labour criminal acts. We ensure that every report is handled quickly, transparently, and accountably, prioritising cross-sector synergy,” revealed Irhamni. In addition to case handling, Polri also recorded several other achievements, such as the development of competency standards for Labour Desk officers, international awards, and handling of migrant worker cases. Polri affirms that it will continue to strengthen the role of the Labour Desk as the frontline in providing legal protection to workers and labourers. “Polri is committed to continuing to be present as a protector and guardian of society, including workers and labourers, to realise social justice and support sustainable national development,” concluded the Deputy Chief of Police.
