Polri Establishes Hajj Task Force Down to District Police Level to Strengthen Oversight
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Polri has established a Hajj Task Force (Satgas) down to the district police (polres) level to strengthen oversight and ensure the security of this year’s Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage operations.
Polri’s Deputy Chief of Intelligence and Security, Inspector General Nanang Rudi Supriatna, stated that the formation of this task force is a direct order from the National Police Chief in response to various issues arising in Hajj arrangements.
“The Hajj Task Force has been formed down to the district police level. In this regard, we are collaborating with the Ministry of Religious Affairs down to the local level, including the Heads of Hajj Offices at the district/city level,” Nanang said during a press conference at Polri Headquarters in Jakarta on Monday (20/4/2026).
Polri has also opened a complaint service for the public via the hotline 0812-188-991-91.
This service is intended for prospective pilgrims who encounter indications of fraud, including suspicious Hajj departure offers.
“This can be utilised by the public, especially those intending to perform Hajj this year, if they feel there are indications of possible fraud, they can report it through that hotline,” he explained.
The Director General of Hajj and Umrah Operations Control at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Harun Al Rasyid, stated that Polri’s support is greatly needed given the high number of violation reports received by his office.
He revealed that the Ministry receives around 15 to 20 reports daily related to Hajj and Umrah operations.
These reports cover various cases, from regular Hajj, special Hajj, to Umrah, with Umrah cases being the most dominant.
“Indeed, we cannot handle this alone, which is why we greatly need full support from our friends in the Police to enforce prevention and enforcement efforts against criminal acts in Hajj and Umrah operations going forward,” Harun clarified.
One outcome is the prevention of eight Indonesian citizens from departing to perform Hajj using non-Hajj visas at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
Currently, the case is still under further investigation to trace the involved parties, including possible involvement of travel agents.
Polri assures that it will take action against all involved parties, whether organisers, intermediaries, or other responsible entities.
