1. Sahroni returns as Deputy Chairman of House Commission III following suspension
House of Representatives member Ahmad Sahroni has been reappointed as Deputy Chairman of Commission III, having previously received a suspension sanction from his party and the House Ethics Council (MKD) over earlier controversies.
Sahroni was reinstated as a leader of Commission III by House Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, who oversees Political, Legal and Security Affairs. Commission III handles law enforcement matters.
2. Defence Minister offers encouragement to families of soldiers killed in landslide
Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin offered encouragement to the families of Marine soldiers who were victims of a landslide in Cisarua, West Bandung.
The minister expressed his support during a meeting with the families of 23 fallen soldiers at Marine Corps Command Headquarters (Mako Kormar) in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (18/2).
An official press release received on Thursday stated that upon arriving at Mako Kormar, Sjafrie personally interacted with the soldiers’ families and conveyed his private condolences.
3. Prabowo discusses Free Nutritious Meals programme and anti-corruption efforts before US business leaders
President Prabowo Subianto outlined Indonesia’s priority programmes — from the Free Nutritious Meals scheme and Danantara to the commitment to eradicate corruption — at a US Chamber of Commerce business forum in Washington DC on Wednesday (18/2) afternoon local time.
Before the American business leaders, President Prabowo affirmed that his administration is focused on delivering tangible benefits for the people whilst creating a stable and trustworthy investment climate.
4. Prabowo invites major US companies to increase medical equipment investment in Indonesia
President Prabowo Subianto invited one of the largest American companies to increase its investment in manufacturing medical equipment in Indonesia as a cooperation opportunity.
At the Gala Iftar Dinner Business Summit in Washington DC on Wednesday (18/2) evening local time, President Prabowo explained that multinational corporation General Electric (GE) has opportunities to explore cooperation following the establishment of ten new STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) and medical universities.
5. At US Chamber Iftar, Prabowo declares Indonesia has never defaulted on debt
President Prabowo Subianto, at the Iftar and Business Summit hosted by the US Chamber of Commerce in Washington DC on Wednesday (18/2), declared that Indonesia has never defaulted on its debt throughout its history, supported by strong economic foundations and a credible fiscal track record.
“We have managed our economy wisely for many years. We have never defaulted, not once in our history. We have never failed to pay our debts,” the President said, as relayed through the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta on Thursday.
