Politico: US Considering Military Action Against Iran That Could Last 100 Days
The United States is considering military operations against Iran that could last at least 100 days or until September, Politico reported. On Wednesday, US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth revised the timetable for a military operation against Iran to eight weeks from the previous four to five weeks. US President Donald Trump had previously set a deadline of four to five weeks to complete an assault against Iran, if required. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) asked for additional military intelligence officers to its headquarters in Tampa, Florida, to support operations related to Iran, the newspaper said, citing internal Department of Defence documents. The move to bolster evacuation resources for Americans in the Middle East and to strengthen the intelligence-gathering troops also indicated that the Trump administration was not yet fully prepared to face a larger conflict with Iran, Politico said. On Saturday (28 February), the US and Israel launched a series of strikes against several targets in Iran, including Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties. Iran then launched retaliatory ballistic missile attacks against Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East.
