Political prisoners learn sewing
SEMARANG, Central Java: Six political prisoners from East Timor participate in vocational training courses organized by the correctional house.
Together with dozens of prisoners from other provinces in Kedungpane correctional house, the East Timorese learn tailoring and craftsmanship, Antara reported yesterday.
Prison warden Marsono said instructors had no problem with the six East Timorese because the prisoners were "smart" and quick to communicate in the Indonesian language.
"No wonder they have been able to become accustomed to their new environment within six months," he said of the four East Timorese transferred from Dili.
The prisoners are Jevensio De Yesus Martin (serving six years), Catur Nino Dalasta Below (12 years), Gregoria Datsuha Saldan (life), Fransisco Miranda Branco (15 years), Cinto Das Neses Raimundo Alces (10 years), and Filomena Da Selva Ereira (5 years). (pan)
