Polio vaccines for 669,000 babies
UJUNGPANDANG, South Sulawesi: The provincial government plans to provide polio vaccines to 669,000 children under five-years- old in a health campaign scheduled for September.
Chief of the provincial health office Mustafa Djide said in a meeting with local community leaders Monday that the campaign is part of Indonesia's effort to make it polio-free by the year 2000.
"We hope that no child under five will miss this vaccination program," mustafa said as quoted by Antara.
Meanwhile, secretary to the governor Syamsul Ridjal said the health campaign will involve various government agencies, including the Armed Forces. (pan)
