Police Want Kindergarten Children to Know Emergency Number 110
JAKARTA — The head of the Indonesian National Police’s (Polri) Public Relations Division has emphasised the importance of publicising the emergency hotline 110 to the general public, including young children, ahead of the 2026 Ketupat Operation.
Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir stated that the 110 emergency service is one of Polri’s flagship services that must become increasingly known to the public.
“If all 280 million Indonesians, including babies, or as we call them, kindergarten children or little children, were asked about the police, they would say, ‘Oh, just contact 110’ in their own way of speaking,” Isir said whilst leading a Readiness Briefing for the Public Relations Task Force of the Ketupat Operation at the Polri Public Relations Division building in Jakarta on Wednesday (11 March 2026).
He stated that the 110 service must become the primary choice for citizens when requiring police assistance, particularly concerning security and safety matters.
“Whenever citizens need any service, especially related to their security and safety, please use 110. This is what we must establish,” he said.
In addition to publicising the 110 hotline, Isir also requested that public relations personnel photograph the humanitarian aspects of field officers during the implementation of the Lebaran homecoming operation.
“Colleagues know how exhausting it is to stand on the road. Yes, I have experienced it many times myself. Standing for several hours. Physically, officers must be in prime condition, mentally they must be mature, emotionally they must be controlled,” Isir said.
“Not to mention the various problems they have at home. Yes, these are things not many people know about. Please photograph these aspects,” he added.
According to Isir, publicising these humanitarian aspects can strengthen public confidence in Polri.
Several focal points of concern include the Kalikangkung toll gate in Central Java and the Ketapang-Gilimanuk crossing in East Java.
Isir also requested that public relations personnel actively communicate up-to-date information regarding traffic management to the public, such as the implementation of the one-way system, contraflow, and changes to traffic flow on toll roads.
This information, he said, can be communicated through various communication platforms such as WhatsApp Blast, SMS Blast, and social media.
