Police Urge Tourism Operators to Prioritise Visitor Safety
The Indonesian National Police Headquarters has reminded managers of tourist sites to guarantee visitor safety during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday. Managers are urged to regulate capacity to prevent overcrowding (overcapacity).
Brigadier General Tjahyono Saputro, Head of the Public Relations Task Force for Operation Ketupat 2026, stated that managers must also provide adequate safety facilities, including security personnel and first aid services. “Managers must ensure controlled capacity and prepare safety facilities and infrastructure. Deploy security personnel and first aid at tourist locations,” said Tjahyono while monitoring Ragunan Wildlife Park on Sunday, 22 March 2026.
He explained that Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has urged the public, whether returning home for Eid or going on holiday, to maintain safety and comply with regulations. The public is asked to plan their trips well, maintain physical condition, and avoid overexertion when tired during driving and holidaying.
Visitors are also advised to increase vigilance against potential accidents, pay attention to the weather, and obey signs and instructions from officials. Parents are urged to supervise children, especially in risky areas like water attractions. “Do not swim in prohibited areas and use safety equipment if necessary,” said Tjahyono.
Meanwhile, the number of visitors to Ragunan has increased significantly during the Eid holiday. Ragunan Wildlife Park Public Relations Head Wahyudi Bambang noted that the number of visitors reached around 30,000 people until 11:00 AM. This number is estimated to rise to 70,000 visitors by closing at 16:00 PM.
In comparison, during Eid 2025, Ragunan recorded a daily record of up to 203,000 visitors. The total visits over 14 days of holiday reached 600,000 people. This year, with a shorter eight-day holiday period, the number of visitors is estimated at around 400,000.
To anticipate the surge, managers have added 27 parking points with a capacity of around 20,000 motorcycles and 5,000 cars. Supporting facilities such as services for people with disabilities have also been prepared.
