The National Police Traffic Directorate (Korlantas Polri) has reminded operators of the operational restrictions on heavy cargo or three-axle vehicles during the 2026 Lebaran exodus period. Vehicles violating these restrictions will face enforcement action.

“We have already set time and duration policies. Tomorrow (today) we will begin enforcement operations, including warnings and citations,” said Brigadier General Faizal, Director of Law Enforcement at Korlantas Polri, at the Traffic Control Centre in Km 29 Cikarang, West Java, on Saturday, 15 March 2026.

Faizal also reminded personnel to implement the Joint Decree (SKB) that has been issued, to ensure public safety during the Lebaran exodus and return journey.

“We also urge our colleagues in the field to continue implementing the SKB that is already in effect. Please carry out warnings and, if necessary, issue citations,” he added.

Faizal also announced that ramp checks at Km 81 on the Cipali toll road have commenced. These checks are intended to assess vehicle roadworthiness during the Lebaran migration period.

“Effective today, Saturday, 14 March, we have begun checkpoint and ramp check operations at Km 81,” Faizal said.

“The purpose is to identify and address drivers who lack the capability to drive safely,” he explained.

In addition to vehicle inspections, the operation includes driver health and fitness screening to prevent fatigued drivers from continuing on the road.

“We are also conducting health checks, providing vitamins, and assessing whether vehicles are roadworthy. This is done in cooperation with colleagues from the transport and health authorities,” he stated.

Operation Ketupat 2026 is scheduled to run for two weeks, from 13 to 25 March 2026. An estimated 143.9 million trips are expected during this Lebaran season.

On the second day of Operation Ketupat 2026, 459,570 vehicles departed Jakarta. An estimated 76.9 per cent, or 3.2 million vehicles, are still expected to leave Jakarta.

The vehicles are predominantly heading towards Eastern Java, dominated by private cars. Vehicle numbers are predicted to peak from Wednesday, 18 March to Friday, 20 March.
