Police have disclosed the latest progress in the investigation of alleged sexual misconduct against a disabled student at a special needs school (SLB) in Yogyakarta, reportedly committed by her teacher. The teacher, currently listed as the reporting party, will be questioned this week.

“Last Friday (27 February) we examined five witnesses. This Thursday (5 March) we will question the reporting party,” said the Criminal Investigation Unit Chief of Yogyakarta Police (Polresta Jogja), Kompol Riski Adrian, when contacted on Monday (2 March 2026).

Police will also interview the victim as part of the investigation process. The examination will include a medical examination (visum) to determine whether the victim experienced any conduct beyond sexual misconduct.

Additionally, psychological examination has been conducted on the victim. Riski is targeting to release the results of both examinations this week.

“We also conducted a medical examination of the victim. There may have been other misconduct,” said Riski.

“We are also awaiting the psychological assessment results from the UPTD PPA (Protection and Empowerment Unit for Women and Children). This week the results should come out,” he added.

Riski further stated that authorities have yet to formally designate a suspect in this case because they are still gathering evidence.

“Not yet (to designate a suspect). Currently we are still collecting evidence. We have also seized material evidence related to the incident,” he explained.

Previously, the Criminal Investigation Unit of Yogyakarta Police had escalated the alleged sexual misconduct case to the formal investigation stage. Five witnesses have been questioned in this matter.

“We have interviewed five witnesses, and yesterday we held the case conference and escalated the process to formal investigation,” Riski clarified when met in the Malioboro area on Wednesday (25 February 2026).

In this investigation process, said Riski, all interviewed parties, including the reporting party—the alleged teacher—still maintain witness status. The escalation to formal investigation occurred because police discovered elements of criminal conduct in the case.

“We believe there is criminal conduct involved, which is why we escalated the case to formal investigation. The questioning of the first witness in the formal investigation stage will take place next Friday,” said Riski.

“There were indeed previous actions taken by the school, and these were clarified between the school and the alleged perpetrator. From the statements we obtained from witnesses, there was an admission,” he added.
