Investigators from the Subdirectorate of State Security at the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation, Metro Jaya Police, will examine journalist and presenter Aiman Witjaksono today, Thursday (2/4/2026). The Head of Public Relations for Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that the examination of Aiman relates to the case of allegations of a fake diploma belonging to the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi). “The plan today is for Aiman to be examined at the Subdirectorate of State Security, Directorate of Criminal Investigation, regarding the diploma case,” Budi told Kompas.com on Thursday. “The latest confirmation is that Aiman will attend as a witness,” Budi added. Separately, Aiman conveyed that during the examination, he will provide a legal opinion regarding his position as the editor-in-chief of one of the private television stations. “I will provide a legal opinion related to my position as editor-in-chief, which is a press entity,” Aiman said when contacted separately on Thursday. However, the delivery of this legal opinion is planned not to be given directly by Aiman, but represented by the legal team from his television station. Previously, another journalist, Karni Ilyas, was also examined on Monday (30/3/2026). “Metro Jaya Police has designated eight suspects in the case of defamation, slander, hate speech, and electronic data manipulation reported by Mr. Ir. H. Joko Widodo,” said the Metro Jaya Police Chief, Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, during a press conference at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Friday (7/11/2025). In general, the eight suspects are charged under Article 27A and Article 28 of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (ITE), as well as Articles 310 and/or 311 of the Criminal Code, with a maximum prison sentence of six years. These suspects are then divided into two clusters according to their actions. The first cluster is also charged under Article 160 of the Criminal Code for incitement to commit violence against public authorities. Eggi Sudjana, Kurnia Tri Royani, Rizal Fadillah, Rustam Effendi, and Damai Hari Lubis are placed in this cluster. As the case progresses, the suspect status of Eggi Sudjana and Damai Hari Lubis was revoked after a Termination of Investigation Order (SP3) was issued. The two resolved their cases through restorative justice. Then, Rismon Sianipar from the second cluster also followed the steps of Eggi and Hari. He admitted to having made a mistake in his research regarding Jokowi’s diploma.
