Jakarta — The Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Polri), Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo, has assured that police will take action in response to complaints from entrepreneurs regarding mass organisations (ormas) demanding year-end bonuses (Tunjangan Hari Raya/THR). The police will first conduct an initial investigation as a response to these complaints.

“I will check first,” said Dedi at the Presidential Staff Office, located within the Jakarta Presidential Palace complex, on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

He stated that police will take immediate enforcement action if evidence of a violation is found.

“If it is indeed proven that there is a form of violation, the police will certainly take enforcement measures,” said Dedi.

Previously, the Indonesian National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri) asked the public, particularly business owners, to report immediately if they experience demands for year-end bonuses (THR) deemed disturbing from mass organisations (ormas) or other parties.

Polri has opened a complaint service through the emergency hotline 110 for members of the public who feel disturbed by such THR demand practices.

The Head of the Police Public Relations Division (Kadiv Humas Polri), Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, stated that in principle, the giving of THR to other parties is a form of goodwill if performed voluntarily.

However, if such requests cause public distress, citizens are welcome to report the matter to police.

“In principle, that is part of goodwill, if someone wants to help. But if it then becomes disturbing, please, as mentioned, we have the 110 hotline,” said Isir on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

According to him, the police will first take preventative measures by issuing warnings to mass organisations and parties found demanding THR. This measure is expected to minimise public distress ahead of Idul Fitri celebrations.

Nevertheless, Isir emphasised that police will not hesitate to take legal action if the THR demand is carried out in an organised manner and causes disruption among the community.

“If it is then structured and causes considerable distress, we will not rule out the possibility of taking legal enforcement measures. But that would be a last resort,” he said.
