Police: Suspects in Acid Attack Terrorising KontraS Activist Suspected to Be More Than Four People
Jakarta Metro Police suspect the perpetrators of the acid splashing against Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS) Andrie Yunus involved more than four people. Currently, only two have had their faces revealed to the public. Director of General Criminal Investigation at Jakarta Metro Police, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, stated that they detected the two perpetrators through CCTV analysis. Their initials are BHC and MAK. “Currently, we suspect that the two people we showed earlier from the Polri Single Data, one with initials BHC, two with initials MAK. However, from our investigation results, it does not rule out the possibility that the perpetrators are suspected to be more than four,” Iman said during a press conference at Jakarta Metro Police headquarters on Wednesday (18/3). According to Iman, in addition to CCTV analysis, the police found the perpetrators based on witness statements, evidence items, and clues collected. “We have requested statements from 15 witnesses,” he explained. On this occasion, Iman revealed that the acid splashing action was indeed planned. Because, from the collected CCTV, it was found that the perpetrators followed and monitored the victim since leaving the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) located in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on 12 March 2026. “From the YLBHI office, based on the CCTV we obtained, there were already unidentified suspected perpetrators following,” he said. Findings from National Police Headquarters differ from those of TNI’s Puspom. TNI Puspom Commander Major General Yusri Nuryanto today revealed four suspected perpetrators of the acid splashing against Andrie Yunus. The initials of the four suspected perpetrators include NDP with the rank of captain, SL and BHW with the rank of lieutenant, ES with the rank of sergeant. All four are charged under articles 467 paragraphs 1 and 2 of the new Criminal Code which regulate premeditated assault.
