Bekasi — The Bekasi City Metropolitan Police (Polres Metro Bekasi Kota) are still investigating allegations of sexual abuse involving a toddler girl identified as A, aged 1 year 9 months, in the Bintara area of West Bekasi, Bekasi City. Head of the Women and Children Protection and the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Unit (Kasat PPA-PPO) of Polres Metro Bekasi Kota, Commissioner Rosdiana, said the report on the case had been received since December 2025 and is currently under investigation by the PPA Unit. ‘For such cases, we first receive the report, then conduct a forensic medical examination (visum), and request statements from the reporter and witnesses related to the case,’ Rosdiana told Kompas.com on Thursday (5 March 2026). She added that the victim has undergone a forensic medical examination as part of the investigative process. However, investigators face a hurdle because the child is very young and cannot explain the chronology of the incident in full. ‘In child cases, we rely on the statements of the child or the victim; at present this remains a hurdle when the child cannot yet speak to provide a complete chronology,’ she said. Regarding information that the alleged perpetrator is said to have moved from a previous rental home, Rosdiana stated this is still being examined in the investigation process. ‘Regarding the perpetrator’s relocation, its connection to this case is still under investigation. Whether the perpetrator moved or something like that, we are still deepening with witnesses first,’ she said. ‘For the alleged person reported, we have not yet taken their statement; for witnesses, we have not yet delved into how their testimony will be used. So far there have only been two witnesses,’ she added. Rosdiana stressed that investigators must be cautious in handling cases involving children, especially before naming someone as a suspect. ‘In handling cases involving children, we are very cautious about making someone a suspect, because strong evidence is required,’ she said. She ensured that the investigation process continues to determine whether the case can be escalated to the next stage of inquiry, and they will monitor developments.
