The Rote Selatan Police secured four Chinese nationals and three Uzbek nationals found on the coast of Masidae Beach, Inaoe Village, Rote Selatan District, Rote Ndao Regency, since Tuesday (24/2) at around 08:00 local time.

The discovery of the seven foreign nationals began with reports from the public regarding the presence of a suspicious vessel on the beach. Police personnel then went to the location and found a white speedboat with seven foreign nationals on board.

The Head of the Rote Selatan Police, Ipda Andi D. E. Salata, along with personnel, immediately evacuated the seven suspected illegal immigrants from the coast of Masidae Beach for further questioning.

From the initial interviews, it was learned that four of them were from China and the other three were from Uzbekistan.

“Additional information we obtained is that there were four Indonesian nationals on board the vessel who have fled,” said Ipda Andi Salata in a written statement received by the media on Wednesday (25/2).

The discovery was then reported to the Head of the Rote Ndao Police, AKB Mardiono. He immediately ordered his staff to search for the four Indonesian nationals who were allegedly involved and had fled.

In his statement, AKB Mardiono conveyed the results of the identification of the seven foreign nationals. “From the identification and documents they possessed, there are four Chinese nationals with the initials HJ, JB, CY, and DG, and three Uzbek nationals with the initials K, SM, and S. All seven foreign nationals, suspected victims of people smuggling, have valid passports,” he said.

Currently, the seven foreign nationals are still in the jurisdiction of the Rote Ndao Police for further investigation. Meanwhile, police officers continue to search around the coast of Masidae Beach to uncover the whereabouts of the four Indonesian nationals who fled.
