Police Secure Dozens of Teenagers in West Jakarta Convoy, Firecrackers and Samurai Swords Seized
Police have seized items from teenagers who organised a convoy in the Tamansari area of West Jakarta. Firecrackers and a samurai sword were among the confiscated items.
“Tamansari Metro Police Station in West Jakarta secured 30 firecrackers, 15 bamboo poles or long pipes, 15 group flags, and one samurai sword,” said Tamansari Metro Police Chief Kompol Bobby M Zulfikar on Monday (16 March 2026).
The group of teenagers had travelled through Hayam Wuruk Street on Sunday (15 March) in the afternoon. They were conducting a convoy titled “takjil on the road” (distributing Ramadan meals on the road).
“This action was taken to follow up on public concerns regarding the convoy activities conducted by teenagers and the disruption to public order,” he explained.
Police subsequently issued guidance to the group, advising them to distribute takjil in an orderly manner. Officers reminded the teenagers that convoy activities should not disrupt public life.
“Sharing takjil is a positive activity during Ramadan, but it must be conducted in an orderly manner, without convoys, and without carrying attributes or items that could potentially cause security disturbances,” he said.
The teenagers were also asked to distribute takjil respectfully to ensure proper targeting. They were cautioned against disrupting public order and potentially causing unrest.
