Police Search for Two Associates of Scottish Mafia Boss Suspected to Still Be in Bali
Police have successfully apprehended the international fugitive, Scottish mafia boss Stevens Lyons (SL), in Denpasar, Bali. The suspect, who was on Interpol’s wanted list, has been handed over for deportation to Spain to stand trial for his crimes. Meanwhile, two of SL’s associates are suspected to still be in Bali. A joint team—comprising NCB Interpol, Polri’s International Relations Division (Divhubinter), Bali Police, and Bali Immigration—is continuing the search for the two individuals believed to be Lyons’ associates. “The individual (Steven) arrived in Bali with two of his associates, namely Stephen Larwood and Lewis Wang,” said NCB Interpol Secretary Brigjen Untung Widyatmoko during a press conference at Bali Police Headquarters in Denpasar on Tuesday (31/3). Unlike Lyons, his two associates are not on Interpol’s red notice list. However, based on information from Spain’s Guardia Civil, they are suspected to be members of SL’s syndicate. “Nevertheless, we are still searching for the two. Although they do not have a red notice, based on information from our counterparts in Spain, these two individuals are also members of the dangerous criminal group,” Untung stated. He mentioned that the two associates of SL are believed to still be on Bali island, and immigration records indicate they have not left the island. “The two are still in Bali; we are also monitoring the crossings, and they have not left Bali,” Untung said. Stevens is a British national who was arrested upon landing at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, on Saturday (28/3). He is a major Interpol fugitive involved in various transnational crimes, including narcotics, money laundering, and murder in Spain. Additionally, during SL’s arrest, no evidence was seized because it is suspected to have been carried by his two associates. “So far, we have not found any evidence; only the individual’s passport, as we do not know what items he had. It seems they were taken by his two associates,” Untung explained. Bali Police Chief Irjen Pol Daniel Adityajaya stated that Lyons is the leader of a large-scale transnational criminal organisation operating in drug trafficking and money laundering in Spain and Great Britain. He explained that Lyons’ arrest is the result of inter-agency and cross-country cooperation, including Interpol. “This is thanks to the coordination and cooperation between NCB Interpol, Polri’s International Relations Division (Divhubinter), Bali Police, immigration, and of course the countries related to the incidents (crimes committed) by the suspect,” he said. Bali Police’s Head of Criminal Investigation, Kombes I Gede Adhi Mulyawarman, also explained that the uncovering of Lyons is part of an operation codenamed Armour Room, a joint investigation initiated by Spain’s Central Operative Unit of the Guardia Civil and Scottish police. “Then, through a joint operation in Europe on 27 March 2026, these authorities have captured 33 individuals in Scotland and 12 in Spain as part of the series,” he clarified.
