Police search for four men who pulled off Rp 141m Bogor robbery
BOGOR (JP): Police here are hunting for four men in connection with a robbery of around Rp 142 million in cash on Jl. Raya Cileungsi-Cibinong in Cileungsi Kidul village on Thursday afternoon.
Bogor Police chief of detectives Adj. Comr. Santun Marpaung said on Friday the four suspects snatched the money from Neli, 28, the treasurer of garment firm PT Gunung Putri Indah Garmindo (GPIG), and the company's security guard B. Harahap, 35, who were on their way back from Bank Swadesi in Jakarta.
The money had been withdrawn to pay the salaries of the firm's employees.
"The movements of this company's particular employees had been studied by the robbers," Santun said.
Neli and Harahap went to the bank in a Kijang van, driven by Kasimin, 34.
"Neli had withdrawn Rp 104.65 million and US$ 3,500 from the bank, at about 1 p.m. The three people were returning to Bogor when upon reaching Cileungsi district, the van's back tire was suddenly punctured," Santun said.
"Four men on two motorcycles appeared from nowhere as they approached the van. One of the robbers broke the front nearside window of the van and threatened to stab Harahap, who was sitting next to the driver. The moneybag containing the dollars and rupiah was then snatched."
The robbers, Santun said, fled towards the Cibinong area.
The most recent armed robbery took place earlier last month, costing a clove dealer, Syaheri, Rp 100 million and leaving him injured after the robbers shot him in his right arm and stomach in broad daylight on Jl. Baru Ciheuleut in Sawah village, East Bogor.
Several witnesses testified that the robbers used an FN gun.
Previously a gang of armed robbers seized Rp 60 million in cash from staff of the Indonesian Red Cross Hospital who had just withdrew the money from a bank to pay the hospital's meal allowances.
All suspects in the two cases remain at large. (21)
