Police Reveal Two Networks Linked to Drug Boss Arrested at Kualanamu
The Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) has revealed the network controlled by narcotics suspect Supriadi, alias Adi T. Supriadi was the mastermind behind two syndicates that were dismantled in Banyuasin, South Sumatra, and Riau.
Director of Narcotics Crime at Bareskrim, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, suspects that Supriadi controlled a Malaysia-Indonesia narcotics network, with illegal substances smuggled through border areas in Riau.
"Sumatra is a strategic overland transit corridor vulnerable to exploitation as a cross-provincial narcotics distribution route, particularly from the Malaysia-Riau border area towards South Sumatra," Eko said in a statement on Wednesday (18 February 2026).
Eko noted that the high volume of movement along the trans-Sumatra route was exploited by organised syndicates for large-scale narcotics shipments. The contraband was smuggled via overland routes using a layered courier system.
"Based on investigations by Sub-Directorate IV of the Narcotics Crime Directorate at Bareskrim, the development of previous cases, as well as intelligence and public information, repeated shipments of narcotics through the Malaysia-Indonesia network were identified, using Riau as a transit point towards South Sumatra, with the potential for serious impacts on public order and community health," Eko explained.
On that basis, Head of Sub-Directorate IV Commissioner Handik Zusen and the NIC Task Force led by Commissioner Kevin Leleury conducted integrated investigations and enforcement operations that resulted in the uncovering of several cases to sever the cross-regional narcotics distribution chain.
According to Eko, Supriadi was linked to the syndicate dismantled in Banyuasin, which was commanded by Nando Saputra alias Bopak, whilst the Riau network was controlled by Heri Wahyu, an inmate at Dumai Class IIB Prison.
In the Nando Saputra syndicate, police arrested four suspects: Nando, Abiyu Bima Ayatullah, Andi Yuni Yansyah, and Ade Kurniawan. During the operation, Bareskrim seized 30 kilogrammes of methamphetamine.
In the Heri Wahyu syndicate, police apprehended three suspects: Heri, Piki Ramadani (27) and Gilang Ramadhan (20). From the suspects, police confiscated evidence including 14 packages of suspected methamphetamine concealed in blue jerry cans, a car, a motorcycle, cash, and mobile phones.
Eko stated that the operation successfully severed the cross-provincial narcotics distribution chain, prevented large-scale drug circulation, and potentially saved approximately 615,000 people from the dangers of narcotics abuse.
