Police reveal that Ki Bedil once worked in the air gun industry
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Mobile Brigade Criminal Investigation Unit (Satresmob) of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency has revealed that the suspect in the illegal firearms case, TS alias Ki Bedil, once worked in the air gun industry.
“Ki Bedil alias brother TS previously worked in the air gun industry in Cipacing, West Java,” said the Head of Satresmob of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, Senior Commissioner Pol. Arsya Khadafi, to the media in Jakarta on Monday.
He stated that in the Cipacing area, there had been police enforcement efforts to crack down on illegal firearms.
After that incident, Ki Bedil disappeared and then worked independently, very cautiously, based on orders from people he trusted.
Arsya also revealed that Ki Bedil never sold his homemade firearms directly. The suspect used an intermediary with the initials AS to trade the firearms on social media.
“With the system where, when the item is ordered, payment is already received, and the item is sent to the address specified by the buyer,” he said.
He further disclosed that the prices of the sold firearms varied, depending on the type.
“For some complex types like pistols, they are traded for around Rp15–20 million, and also for long-barrel rifles with 100-meter accuracy, they are traded for around Rp15–20 million,” he explained.
Ki Bedil is known as an expert in making illegal firearms of the revolver or pistol type. His buyers are mostly street crime perpetrators and illegal hunters.
This arrest is part of the Indonesian National Police’s serious efforts to eradicate the circulation of illegal firearms that could disrupt public security and order.
