Police Reveal Obstacles in Investigating Alleged Child Molestation Case in Bekasi
BEKASI, KOMPAS.com – Police have revealed several obstacles in the investigation of an alleged child molestation case involving a female toddler identified as A (1 year 9 months) in the Bintara area, West Bekasi District, Bekasi City. The head of the PPA-PPO of Bekasi City Metropolitan Police, Kompol Rosdiana, said that the main impediment in pursuing the case is that the child is still very young and cannot yet provide a complete chronology of the incident. “Our difficulty also lies in the child not yet being able to speak to give a complete account of the chronology,” Rosdiana told Kompas.com on Thursday (5 March 2026). This condition means investigators cannot immediately name a suspect without deeper inquiry. “For that, the complainant has not yet been asked for statements. We have not yet deepened the witnesses’ testimonies as to how they will testify,” she said. Regarding information that the suspect moved from a previous rental home, Rosdiana said this is still under investigation. “Regarding the suspect’s relocation, its relation to this case is still in the investigative process. We also still need to delve into the witnesses first,” she added. Rosdiana stressed that in cases involving children, investigators must proceed with caution before determining a suspect’s status, as robust evidence is required. The victim has undergone a medical examination as part of the investigation. However, the victim’s statements remain one of the crucial elements in proof. “Whether it can later be used for fingerprinting or other measures, we will see how things develop,” she said. Earlier reports stated that the toddler A allegedly suffered abuse by a neighbour identified as R alias G (48) when left in the care of the parents while they were at work in December 2025 at a rented house in West Bekasi District. The victim’s mother, FS (35), said that initially the child complained of pain in the genitals and often cried during bathing.
