Police raided a house used as a location for the practice of mixing subsidised gas in Sukaraja, Bogor, West Java. Over a hundred 3kg and 12kg gas cylinders, as well as gas mixing equipment, were secured from the site.

“Indeed, the operation took place on Tuesday afternoon (31/3). The evidence we secured includes several green melon gas cylinders, or subsidised gas, and 12kg non-subsidised gas cylinders. We also secured scales and gas injection equipment,” said Sukaraja Police Chief AKP Ade Rahmat when contacted on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

Ade stated that the raid was a follow-up to a community report of suspicion and concern over the gas smell around the location. Residents claimed to be worried about potentially dangerous incidents at the site.

“We received a report via 110, then we responded quickly, with the on-duty team from Sukaraja Police Station, officers, all arriving at the scene. Upon arrival at the location, it turned out there were indeed several tools suspected to be used for transferring (mixing) gas from subsidised cylinders to 12kg non-subsidised cylinders,” Ade explained.

“Additionally, residents had long been restless due to the constant gas smell at the location. They were afraid something might happen, which is why they reported to the complaint hotline and we followed up. The location is a gas cylinder depot, but there was a mixing practice there,” he added.

Ade has not yet specified the exact number of cylinders secured during the raid or how long the mixing practice had been ongoing. The house owner was also not found during the raid.

“For the mixing perpetrators or house owner, they had already fled when we arrived. We immediately coordinated with the District Police, the case is now being handled by the District Police. The evidence has also been transported to the District Police, the exact number is not yet known, around over a hundred cylinders,” said Ade.
