Police question two S'poreans
JAKARTA (JP): Two Singaporeans are now under police
investigation for receiving a package from overseas which contain
hundreds of Ecstacy pills.
City Police Spokesman Lt. Col. E. Aritonang said yesterday the
two had been questioned since Monday following the police's
finding on the drugs package which was sent from Singapore by an
airfreight cargo.
The two people, identified as Richard Zheng, 46, and Hanawati,
35, were found in the house where the drugs package was
addressed, Aritonang said.
"The package was dedicated to Richard, who lives on Jl. Kawi
2D, Mangga Dua, Central Jakarta. Witnessed by Richard and
Hanawati, the police opened the package on Monday. The box
contain 390 Ecstacy pills stored in some chocolate candy
packagings," he said.
Aritonang said both Richard and Hanawati claimed that they did
not know the Singapore address from which the package came from.
"Both Richard and the woman claimed that they were set up by
the third party who want them to be in trouble be sending them
the drugs," he said.
According to Aritonang, Richard was given special attention
because he actually managed a company on Jl. Pangeran Jayakarta
C5/129, North Jakarta.
The government regulation prohibits foreigners from directly
possessing or running business in Indonesia.
The police were still investigating the package which sender
address was not written and examining the pills which type was
considered as rare. (04)
