Police question 21 drug buyers

KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: Police recently questioned 21 people thought to be members of a drug syndicate whose alleged ring leader was arrested last week.

Police said three of the 21 suspects are civil servants who stated during interrogation that they were only "buyers". Others are students, unemployed people and prostitutes.

Four, including the alleged ring leader, are children of local government officials, Antara reported.

The authorities confiscated various types of drugs worth millions of rupiah in last week's raid. As of yesterday, 18 had been released and three were being detained for further questioning. (pan)
