Police Pursue Boss of Online Gambling Headquarters in Hayam Wuruk!
Dirtipidum Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Wira Satya Triputra, during a press conference at the scene in the Hayam Wuruk area of West Jakarta on Saturday (9/5/2026), initially stated that so far, only the online gambling coordinators in Hayam Wuruk have been arrested. He mentioned that the focus remains on delving deeper into the captured foreign nationals.
“Then, regarding whether there is or has already been a boss above them secured as part of the enforcement actions that have been carried out? Until now, we are still focused on examining and investigating the perpetrators that we have currently arrested,” Wira said during the press conference.
Nevertheless, he emphasised that they are still pursuing the online gambling boss in Hayam Wuruk. So far, the leadership of the gambling operation has not been captured.
“However, we remain committed to investigating up to the top levels, where currently there are only coordinators at the level of their respective types of work or the roles of these perpetrators,” he stated.
Previously reported, 321 foreign nationals were arrested, consisting of 57 Chinese nationals, 228 Vietnamese nationals, 11 Laotian nationals, 13 Myanmar nationals, 3 Malaysian nationals, 5 Thai nationals, and 3 Cambodian nationals. The perpetrators were caught red-handed while engaging in online gambling.
“The perpetrators were arrested red-handed, meaning they were caught in the act of conducting operational activities or online gambling operations,” he said.
The uncovering of this case involving hundreds of foreign nationals operating online gambling sites was the result of a joint investigation by Bareskrim Polri and the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services (Kemenimipas). In this enforcement action, the police discovered structured online gambling activities that utilised cross-border electronic facilities and were conducted digitally.
Various pieces of evidence were also secured, including safes, passports, mobile phones, laptops, PCs, and cash in various currencies.
