The Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Directorate has detained 11 motorcyclists from the Youth Night Style community suspected of damaging the barrier gate of the Casablanca Non-Toll Elevated Road (JLNT) in South Jakarta. Police said the riders could face multiple charges.

“We can apply violation charges ranging from illegal exhaust modifications, lane markings violations, not possessing a driving licence, and improper use of registration plates,” said Head of the Traffic Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Ojo Ruslani, speaking to reporters on Tuesday (24 February 2026).

Ruslani also revealed the motorcyclists’ motive for damaging the JLNT Casablanca barrier. He said the motorcycle community wanted to create content.

“The motive was to create content,” Ruslani said.

Ruslani explained that the motorcyclists were known to be part of a community called Youth Night Style.

“They’re a community — a community that enjoys creating content, likes hanging out together. They’re not a gang; they’re a community called Youth Night Style,” he said.

Ruslani said his team was still collecting several of the motorcycles involved. Based on the investigation conducted, he estimated that approximately 20 motorcyclists were involved in the incident.

“We are checking the circulating video. From the video, we can determine how many motorcycles were involved — roughly around 20,” Ruslani explained.

The 11 motorcyclists who have been detained were arrested in different areas, including Jatinegara in East Jakarta, Petamburan in Central Jakarta, and Jagakarsa in South Jakarta.

“We have secured 11 individuals from Jagakarsa, Petamburan, Jatinegara — various locations,” Ruslani said in his statement on Monday (23 February).

The incident went viral on social media after footage emerged showing a group of motorcyclists allegedly vandalising the JLNT Casablanca barrier. In the circulating posts, one motorcyclist could be seen burning the rope securing the barrier gate. Once the barrier was opened, the group of riders swarmed onto the elevated road.

“Time for people to enjoy the spotlight,” read the caption on the video.

The motorcyclists were seen wearing black hoodies bearing the words “Youth Style”, “Confused”, and “Stressed”. Most of the group also did not display registration plates on their vehicles.

The footage indicated their actions were carried out solely to create content. The group rode in convoy along the road, with several riders visibly lacking registration plates and not wearing helmets.

Motorcycles and other two-wheeled vehicles are prohibited from using the JLNT Casablanca. The elevated road is designated exclusively for four-wheeled vehicles or larger, with signage clearly posted at the location.
