Pancoran Police Station Chief Inspector Mansur stated that the suspects were apprehended during a patrol on Jalan Raya Buncit on Sunday (17 May). At the time, the patrol team received information about three men acting suspiciously. ‘Residents first noticed the suspicious movements of the individuals and reported them to the patrol team. The patrol then proceeded to the scene. Alhamdulillah, we managed to apprehend two of them,’ Kompol Mansur told reporters at his office on Monday (25 May 2026). Two suspects, identified as AM and D, were immediately detained by police, while a third suspect managed to escape. ‘The third suspect is still being pursued,’ Police recovered evidence including a T-shaped lock and a motorcycle, along with a sharp weapon (sajam). ‘After apprehending them, we took them to Pancoran Police Station where a search was conducted. A sharp weapon and the T-shaped lock were found. The motorcycle evidence is also being secured,’ he said. Police stated that the sharp weapon was used to intimidate residents, as reported by locals during the theft incident. ‘Yes, the sharp weapon was used to scare residents. When they were chased, they brandished the weapon to flee,’ he said. Police revealed the thieves are tailors by profession, stating economic hardship drove the crimes. ‘They work as tailors—some mobile, some fixed. According to the suspects’ statements, their actions were driven by economic pressures and household needs,’ he said. Police are currently hunting another suspect, identified as IP, who is believed to be the mastermind of the theft. ‘The main suspect is still being pursued. According to the two detained suspects, they had no prior criminal history and were only recruited by the suspect currently being chased,’ he said. Both suspects are currently held at Pancoran Police Station, charged under Article 477 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 307(1) of the Criminal Code.
