Police on Alert to Handle Reports of Entrepreneurs Extorted for Holiday Allowance by Civil Organisations
Jakarta — Indonesia’s Deputy Police Chief Komjen Dedi Prasetyo has assured that the police will take action to address complaints from entrepreneurs regarding civil organisations that allegedly force business owners to provide Tunjangan Hari Raya (THR), or holiday allowance payments.
Dedi explained that the police will conduct preliminary investigations upon receiving complaints or reports. “I will first verify the matter, and if there is evidence of violations, the police will certainly take enforcement measures,” Dedi said at the Presidential Staff Office on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
Separately, Irjen Johnny Eddizon Isir, Head of the Police Operations Division, explained that members of the public who are disturbed by such demands for holiday allowance contributions from civil organisations can lodge reports through the police hotline 110.
“In principle, such contributions are voluntary acts of goodwill. However, if someone is being harassed or disturbed, they can call our hotline 110,” Johnny said during a press conference.
According to Johnny, the nearest police unit will provide assistance ranging from warnings to law enforcement measures against the perpetrators. Law enforcement represents the final resort should there be evidence of coercion.
“If this is structured and causing significant distress, we will not rule out pursuing law enforcement action, but that will be our last option,” he said.
