Police officers demoted, dismissed
PALEMBANG, South Sumatra: Four officers at the provincial police office have been demoted for various violations, while another was dismissed, Antara reported.
The punishment was meted out in a ceremony conducted by Police Chief Brig. Gen. Deddi Gandrijadi yesterday. The officers, found guilty of abusing their authority and violating police code of conduct, were chief sergeants Beni Ardian, Nasri, Edward Pahlevi and Ujang Kopli. They were demoted by one rank, while Second Sgt. Arben was dismissed.
The police chief said the officers had received bribes from a suspected drug dealer. (swe)
