Bripda MS, a member of the Maluku Police Mobile Brigade, who assaulted AT (14), a student at a Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) in Southeast Maluku, resulting in the student’s death, faces a prison sentence of up to five years and a fine of IDR 3 billion.

The Head of the National Police’s Public Relations Division, Inspector General of Police Johnny Eddizon Isir, stated that the National Police is committed to carrying out the legal process, both ethical and criminal investigations, quickly, precisely, professionally, and accountably against the individual with the initials MS.

“We, as the National Police’s Public Relations Division, are providing the latest information regarding the legal process, both ethical and criminal investigations, related to the case of violence against a child that occurred in Tual. This is a form of transparency and accountability of the National Police to the public,” he said in a written statement on Wednesday (February 25).

He then expressed his appreciation to journalists in Maluku who continue to monitor the process objectively. He also conveyed his deepest condolences for the incident that befell AT (14), a ninth-grade student.

“We express our deepest condolences for the incident that befell the victim and convey our empathy to NK’s sibling and to both parents and the extended family. This incident is a serious concern for the Chief of Police,” he said.

Johnny said that the Maluku Police, through the Tual Police Chief and the Maluku Police Mobile Brigade, have taken various humanitarian steps, including providing support to the victim’s family and ensuring that NK’s sibling receives optimal medical care.

Regarding the ethical process, Johnny confirmed that Bripda MS has been given the sanction of dismissal, or Dishonorable Dismissal (PTDH).

“The ethical process has been carried out, and the individual with the initials MS has been given the sanction of Dishonorable Dismissal. This shows the National Police’s commitment to enforcing internal rules firmly,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, the criminal process has been handled based on Police Report Number: LP/B/32/II/2026/SPKT/Tual Police/Maluku Police dated February 19, 2026.

He said that the case file has been completed and submitted in the first stage to the Tual District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday (February 24).

“Currently, the case file is being reviewed by the Public Prosecutor. It is hoped that the formal and material completeness can be fulfilled immediately so that the process of handing over the suspect and evidence can be carried out and the case can be immediately transferred to trial,” he added.

The Chief of Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, is committed to taking firm action, both ethically and criminally, against any personnel who are proven to have committed violations.

“The National Police will not hesitate to take firm action against any personnel who are proven to have committed violations or deviations in carrying out their duties. This is a form of the National Police’s commitment to maintaining public trust,” he explained.

He then invited the public to continue monitoring this process objectively and provide constructive criticism and input for the improvement of the institution in the future.

“We realize that public trust is the National Police’s main asset in carrying out its duties as protectors, guardians, and servants of the community. The National Police is open to constructive criticism and input,” he said.
