Police Name Six Students as Suspects in Tamansari Bandung Disturbances
West Java Police have named six students as suspects in the wake of disturbances during the International Workers’ Day or May Day 2026 commemoration on Tamansari Street in Bandung City. The Head of Public Relations for West Java Police, Commissioner Pol Hendra Rochmawan, confirmed that the suspects were designated after a series of intensive examinations by the Satgas Gakkum team. Initially, police secured seven suspected perpetrators, but six, all students, have now officially been upgraded to suspect status. “After intensive examinations, six individuals who are students—namely MRN, MRA, RS, MFNA, FAP, and HIS—have been named as suspects,” said Hendra, as quoted by Detik on Saturday (2/5). During the arrests, police seized several dangerous pieces of evidence, from two Molotov cocktails and petrol to items associated with certain groups, such as a flag reading ‘Punk Football Hate Cops’ and stickers for ‘Jaringan Konspirasi Sel-Sel Api’. “We have identified the roles of each suspect. Some prepared the Molotov cocktails, others carried out the throwing, and some were provocateurs in the action,” Hendra stated. Hendra added that the Resmob team from the Ditreskrimum of West Java Police is still developing leads in the field. Police are hunting for other perpetrators by relying on CCTV footage analysis and data extraction from the suspects’ mobile phones. “Currently, the Resmob team from Ditreskrimum West Java Police is still developing leads to pursue other perpetrators through CCTV analysis and data extraction from the perpetrators’ phones,” he explained. The anarchist incident reportedly caused serious damage to several public facilities in Bandung City. Based on police data, the damaged objects include traffic control facilities and a police post. “The anarchist action resulted in one videotron unit being burned, one Gatur Police Post, and damage to public facilities in the form of traffic lights,” Hendra concluded.
