Director of Traffic at Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Komarudin, stated that his team is currently only investigating the accident between the KRL and the Green SM electric taxi at the level crossing in East Bekasi. “If we focus on the vehicle (taxi) at the level crossing,” he told reporters at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Thursday (30/4). He explained that the fatal accident between the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and the KRL at Bekasi Timur Station would be handled by the National Committee for Transportation Safety (KNKT). “That might be handled by KNKT for train-related issues,” he said. Komarudin mentioned that regarding the taxi accident, his team has conducted a Traffic Accident Analysis (TAA) to delve into allegations of negligence that caused the accident. “It could be human error, road factors, or vehicle factors. This is still under study or research by the TAA team,” he stated. “We are focusing on the level crossing case, the initial incident of the accident between the train and the taxi. Here, we will uncover the four factors causing the accident,” he added. “It cannot be decided yet, cannot be concluded whether it’s from the vehicle, the driver, or other factors. Because this is the scene of the incident at the level crossing,” he said. Meanwhile, the National Committee for Transportation Safety (KNKT) is still investigating the fatal train accident incident between the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek and the KRL at Bekasi Timur Station. KNKT spokesperson Arif Iskandar explained that this investigation process differs from the police inquiry. “If the police are conducting an investigation, it is certainly separate from the investigation carried out by KNKT,” he clarified. Arif explained that KNKT’s investigation is non-judicial (not used as evidence in criminal proceedings) but for improvement purposes. “One of KNKT’s working principles is No Judicial, so we do not seek who is at fault or who should be prosecuted legally. Purely to find the cause of the incident,” he said. He added that KNKT’s investigation results will be announced publicly, including various recommendations for policymakers for evaluation and improvement. “KNKT’s investigation results will be published on the website and KNKT’s channels. The safety recommendations will be given to relevant parties as material for future improvements,” he concluded.
