A video documenting the throwing of firecrackers at a shop suspected of selling tramadol in Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, has gone viral on social media. The video, uploaded to Instagram account @badanperwakilannetizen, shows the person recording carrying an ignited firecracker and directing it towards the shop. The action was reportedly carried out against several shops suspected of illegally selling tramadol. In one instance, the shop attendant is seen immediately taking what appears to be a sharp weapon in response.

In response to the viral video, officers from the East Jakarta Metro Police Station conducted an immediate inspection of the location to verify whether the shops were indeed selling tramadol. “East Jakarta Metro Police Station has conducted direct inspection of allegations of illegal sales of hard drugs, specifically Tramadol, operating as a front for mobile phone credit and cosmetics kiosks at three locations in Pekayon Village and Kalisari Village, Pasar Rebo District, East Jakarta,” said East Jakarta Metro Police Commander Kombes Alfian Nurrizal to journalists on Tuesday, 10 March.

According to information from the building owner, the kiosks had previously been rented to someone suspected of operating for approximately six months. “When the inspection was conducted, the kiosk suspected of selling hard drugs had been closed for two days, specifically since Saturday, 7 March 2026, following the circulation of a viral video on social media regarding the firecracker attack by an unknown person towards the kiosk,” he explained.

Alfian stated that based on the examination and search results, which were conducted with the presence of the local neighbourhood chief and building owner to ensure proper documentation of conditions inside the kiosk, officers successfully secured various medicines from one kiosk located on Jalan Lestari, including 15 sheets or 150 tablets of Trihexyphenidyl, and 250 yellow tablets suspected to be Tramadol. “The evidence has currently been secured by police for further investigation,” he added.
