Police investigate doctor's death

JAKARTA (JP): Police are continuing their investigation into
the death of Dr. A.R. Gan Hong Bing, who is believed to have
committed suicide at a friend's house in Kemanggisan Ilir, West
Jakarta.

"Police are still waiting for the results of the autopsy,"
City Police Spokesman Lt. Col. Bambang Permantoro said yesterday.

Bambang said police have questioned the people who found the
body, including Gan's friend, Lukas, and Lukas' servants.

Gan, a resident of Surabaya, East Java, was found hanging by
his neck, dead, in a room of Lukas's house on Wednesday morning.

The Palmerah police precinct, which is handling the case,
assumed in its preliminary investigation that Gan had committed
suicide.

"But we will investigate the case further," Palmerah police
chief Capt. Fachrudin told reporters. (01)
