Police Investigate Criminal Elements in Cimuning Bekasi SPBE Fire, Witnesses Still Being Examined
Bekasi - Police are still investigating the cause of the fire at the Bulk LPG Filling Station (SPBE) of PT Indogas Andalan Kita, located on Cinyosog Street, Cimuning Ward, Mustikajaya Subdistrict, Bekasi City.
The Head of Criminal Investigation at the Bekasi City Metro Police Resort, Commissioner Andi Muhammad Iqbal, stated that they have not yet been able to confirm the presence or absence of criminal elements in the incident.
“We are still conducting the investigation. It cannot be concluded (regarding criminal elements) yet because investigators are continuing their fieldwork,” Iqbal said when contacted by Kompas.com via telephone on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
“The witness examination is still ongoing; investigators are still summoning witnesses,” he added.
Iqbal mentioned that the results of the comprehensive investigation will be announced after all examination processes are complete.
In the incident, two people were reported to have died after intensive treatment.
Both victims were security guards at the SPBE who suffered burns exceeding 90 per cent.
“Correct. The deceased victims are named Suyadi with 92 per cent burns and Djaimun with 97 per cent burns,” said the Mustikajaya Subdistrict Head, Maka Nachrowi.
Maka explained that Suyadi died on Sunday (5/4/2026), while Djaimun died on Monday (6/4/2026).
Currently, the administrative process is still underway, completing various requirements.
“It just needs the file handover. They are still required to complete requirements such as heir statements, family cards, and death certificates,” said Maka.
Maka noted that the number of affected family heads (KK) from the fire is recorded at 39 households.
In addition to residents’ homes, several other facilities were also affected, including the PT Indogas Andalan Kita SPBE area, two kiosks, one scrap metal stall, one fried rice stall, one musholla with minor damage, and one coffee shop.
The affected area spans approximately 2,000 square metres. The fire also caused several residents to sustain injuries and are still receiving treatment at several hospitals in Bekasi.
