Jakarta – Metro Jaya Police are pursuing two suspects linked to the stabbing of an advocate in the Kelapa Dua District area of Tangerang Selatan, which occurred on Monday, 23 February.

“We are still conducting manhunts for two individuals,” said Metro Jaya Police Public Relations Chief Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.

He stated that there are legal regulations and rules that can be applied to “mata elang” (private security personnel) or debt collectors regarding the seizure of goods from the public.

“We will examine this matter to have an effect on financing institutions to be more diligent in issuing work orders to debt collectors, so they do not appear to be engaging in racketeering,” said Budi.

He also stressed that Metro Jaya Police will not tolerate actions that interfere with public property seized by force.

“We have also instructed all police precincts and Metro Jaya Police units to take firm, precise, and measured action against mata elang or debt collectors who harass the public,” Budi emphasised.

“The suspected perpetrator with initials JBI was apprehended on Tuesday, 24 February at 23:50 Western Indonesia Time in Semarang, Central Java,” said Metro Jaya Police Public Relations Chief Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto on Wednesday, 25 February.

He noted that the victim with initials BS sustained serious stab wounds after becoming involved in a dispute with several unknown individuals who claimed to be debt collectors regarding the seizure of a vehicle.

Currently, he said, the suspected stabbing perpetrator is undergoing interrogation for further investigation. Police prioritise public safety and ensure that all acts of violence are processed in accordance with legal provisions.

“We respond quickly to any incident that causes public unrest. Debt collection must not be carried out outside legitimate mechanisms, especially when accompanied by intimidation or violence. Any violation will be dealt with firmly in accordance with legal provisions,” said Budi.
