Bekasi — The Babelan Sector Police are pursuing a gang of perpetrators suspected of breaking into the safe at petrol station 34.17604 located in RT 001/002, Kebalen Village, Babelan District, Bekasi Regency.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, 10 March 2026, at approximately 03:30 Western Indonesia Time.

Babelan Sector Police Chief Commissioner Wito stated that preliminary investigations indicated approximately four perpetrators were involved.

“Around four perpetrators,” said Wito when contacted by Kompas.com on Thursday, 12 March 2026. “The investigation and pursuit are still ongoing.”

The case was initially revealed through a public report via the National Police Call Centre 110 at approximately 03:20 Western Indonesia Time.

Bekasi Metro Police Chief Senior Commissioner Pol Sumarni stated that the perpetrators entered the petrol station office area by damaging the door before carrying out the robbery.

“They entered the petrol station office area by destroying the door and threatened the victims using sharp weapons and long iron bars,” Sumarni said when contacted on Tuesday.

Five petrol station employees became victims of violence as the perpetrators attempted to break into the safe.

One victim, identified as M (62), attempted to resist the perpetrators but sustained a wound to his left hand before being subdued and bound with adhesive tape.

“The other victims — A (24), M (44), and H (53) — had their heads covered with blankets and were bound with cable, adhesive tape, and raffia rope,” said Sumarni.

Sumarni noted that police officers who arrived at the scene immediately conducted a crime scene investigation and discovered several pieces of evidence believed to have been used by the perpetrators.

“There is one iron safe that has been damaged, a toy pistol, black adhesive tape, cable, and a ladder believed to have been used by the perpetrators to enter through the back area of the petrol station,” said Sumarni.

“The estimated amount taken is between 100 to 130 million rupiah. This is money from sales that was in the safe. There was nothing else taken,” said Wito.
