JAKARTA — The Indonesian National Police are gathering and analysing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrator of an acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS).
Head of the National Police Public Relations Division, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, stated that investigators are examining various digital evidence collected at the scene.
“We are collecting various digital evidence, including CCTV, which is currently undergoing further analysis. Hopefully we can identify [the perpetrator] soon,” Isir said when met at the National Police Public Relations Building in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026.
According to him, in addition to reviewing CCTV recordings, investigators are also conducting interviews with several witnesses present at the crime scene, including those who were with the victim and those who assisted him.
The case is now being handled by investigators from the Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police with support from the Metro Jaya Regional Police and teams from National Police headquarters. Isir emphasised that police are committed to solving the case completely, in accordance with the directives of National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
“All our National Police personnel, including investigators from Central Jakarta Police, Metro Jaya Regional Police, and those from headquarters providing backup, will work seriously and diligently to clarify and solve this case, and to apprehend the perpetrator, whoever they may be,” Isir said.
