The Regional Police of Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands Regional Police (Kepri), have investigated a case of murder with mutilation committed by a husband with initials N (67) against his wife, H (56).

In this case, the head of Tanjungpinang Regional Police, Senior Police Commissioner Indra Ranu Dikarta, stated that suspect N is accused of premeditated murder and recidivism as stipulated in Articles 459 in conjunction with 458 Paragraphs (1) and (2) in conjunction with Article 23 of the Indonesian Criminal Code.

He explained that the murder with mutilation resulted from emotional distress that triggered the husband until he lost his temper and ultimately killed his wife.

The incident occurred on Wednesday (25 February) on Ganet Street, Pinang Kencana Village, East Tanjungpinang District, Tanjungpinang City.

Indra explained that suspect N was initially hurt because he was frequently insulted by his wife, H (60).

“The motive was that the perpetrator was hurt because of quarrels with his wife,” Indra said during a press conference on Friday (27 February).

On that day, the police chief said that during the quarrel, the husband could not control his emotions. The perpetrator left the house, took a wooden stick, and struck the victim repeatedly on the head and back.

After his wife died, said Indra, the perpetrator cut off the victim’s leg and dumped it in an empty plot of land near the house of the perpetrator’s brother-in-law in Bulang village, Tanjungpinang.

“Yes, only the legs were cut off,” he said.

The perpetrator is a recidivist with a similar case of murder. “It was revealed because the victim’s child became suspicious and came to ask about his mother. He then called his father, who eventually confessed that he had killed the mother,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Tanjungpinang Regional Police, First Inspector Wamilik Mabel, stated that police were still conducting psychological examinations of the perpetrator based on assessments from a psychologist.

He noted that the perpetrator regarded the murder of his wife as ordinary because he had committed murder before.
