Jakarta – Police have recovered a helmet suspected to have been used by the perpetrator in an acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Vice Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), on Salemba I Street in Central Jakarta.
This discovery aligns with evidence captured in CCTV footage from the area.
“During the investigation along Salemba I Street, we found evidence suspected to belong to the perpetrator on Salemba I Street leading towards RSCM Hospital,” said Central Jakarta Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Reynold Hutagalung, during a press conference at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Monday (16 March 2026).
“We have sent the helmet as evidence to Bareksrim Polri’s identification centre to obtain fingerprints and to Puslabfor Polri to obtain the perpetrator’s DNA,” Reynold stated.

The first perpetrator, acting as the driver, wore a white-blue combination shirt, dark trousers suspected to be jeans, and a black helmet. The second perpetrator, sitting at the rear, wore a black face covering or mask resembling a buff that covered half the face, a dark blue shirt, and blue trousers folded to above the knee and suspected to be jeans.
Andrie sustained burn injuries on both his right and left hands, face, chest, and eyes.
