Police detained for selling drugs

TANGERANG: Tangerang Police have arrested an officer, First Adj. Insp. JS of the traffic police unit for his role in a drug trafficking ring.

"We are still questioning the officer. No matter who he is, we will take firm measures against him if he is found guilty of drug trafficking," Tangerang Police chief Sr. Comr. Raja Erizman said on Monday.

Tangerang Police narcotics unit chief Comr. Suparno said that police seized two packets of crystal methamphetamine (shabu- shabu) and drug paraphernalia from the officer.

He said JS was arrested at his second wife's house in Blok Sekolah Kampong, Cileduk district, Tangerang municipality after an officer picked up a wanted drug suspect identified as Zul, 34.

He said that Zul, a resident of Jl. Raden Patah, Karang Tengah was arrested while conducting a drug transaction with officers who posed as drug users at Pasar Lembang on Thursday.

"We confiscated as evidence from the suspect a packet containing one gram of shabu-shabu and the Rp 600,000 he obtained from selling the drug," he said.

He said when the suspect was interrogated, he told police that he obtained the drug from JS who acted as a supplier. --JP
