Police cite ISDC as centre for enhancing driving competence
Tangerang - The Indonesian National Police have stated that the Indonesia Safety Driving Center (ISDC) serves as a centre for enhancing public competence in driving safely, comfortably, and in accordance with traffic regulations.
Kompol Turino, head of the Four-Wheeled Driving Team at the Police Education and Training Centre’s Traffic Division, said ISDC functions as an education and training hub for public road safety.
“Particularly regarding traffic education, ISDC serves as an education and training centre to enhance the competence and character of participants, whilst building public awareness so they can drive safely, obey the law, and act responsibly,” Kompol Turino said when met in Tangerang, Banten, on Thursday.
According to him, despite the continuous advancement of vehicle technology with increasingly sophisticated safety features, driver knowledge, operational skills, and maturity remain primary factors in road safety.
“We recognise that current automotive technology development has introduced increasingly sophisticated safety features. However, no matter how advanced such technology is, maximum protection can only be achieved if drivers remain disciplined, alert, and comply with traffic regulations,” he said.
The collaboration is also expected to help build a safety culture in the automotive industry whilst supporting the government’s programme to reduce accident rates through enhanced driving awareness.
On the same occasion, BMW Group Indonesia President Director Peter Medalla stated that this activity demonstrates that BMW vehicle performance always runs alongside driver responsibility.
“Through the BMW Safety Driving Masterclass today, BMW shows that high performance always goes hand in hand with responsibility and full control in every driving condition. For BMW, advanced safety technology is very important, but what matters most is still the driver behind the wheel,” said Peter Medalla.
